Crafts n Stuff I hope to have a fun page for you and your children to enjoy. The projects I post here will be very easy and fun for the whole family. The first project will most likely be the most difficult of the ones I plan to share. Most of them will require adult supervision, but may be perfectly suitable for older siblings to tackle on their own. Enjoy! ![]() Dough Ornaments 1/2 C. Salt 3/4 C. Boiling water 2 C. Flour Metal loops for hanging Mix the 1/2 C. salt and the 3/4 C. boiling water together well and set aside to cool. Add the 2C. of flour and mix well, knead the mixture until it becomes smooth in texture then form into a ball. (about 6 - 8 minutes) Cover the ball of dough with a lightly damp paper towel and an inverted bowl to keep it moist and maleable. Make your ornaments in any shape you like, from sculpting them like in the picture, or just cutting them out with cookie cutters. Add the metal loops for hanging, or make the holes for hanging and place them on a piece of aluminum foil larger than the ornament before placing on the cookie sheet. Bake at 325 to 350 for about 40 minutes. The figures pictured were thick so required 40 minutes. Less time is needed for flat, thinner shapes. Bake just until they are dry. Let cool and paint with acrylic paints and let dry completely before brushing varnish on them for shine and to help preserve them. Felt Ornaments ![]() Card Stock for patterns Scissors Liquid Glue Glitter of various colors Make a pattern with the card stock so you can trace it out on the back of the felt. Glue embellisments onto the main piece and add glitter to make them sparkle. The Soldier was fun and is so cute on the tree. The Horse is actually two pieces that form a pocket for holding a candy cane. Lay the ornaments flat till they are completely dry. ![]() |
