Kids Side Dishes These are basic kid friendly side dish recipes... Torn and Tossed Salad Serves: 4 Preparation time: 10 minutes Kids should need no help with this one, just a little company. In a medium sized bowl combine the following: 1 small head of romaine lettuce, torn into pieces. ½ small box of grape tomatoes ½ cup sweet seedless grapes, any type you like. ½ cup grated parmesan cheese. ½ cup (approximately) of your favorite dressing. Any type you like. Toss all the ingredients with the dressing and set in the refrigerator until ready to put on the table. This is an easy tasty salad that has a sweet element that kids love. Roasted Small Red Potatoes Serves: 4 Preparation time: 10 minutes Bake time: 1 hour (adult help needed) Temperature: 350 degrees 6-8 small red potatoes, washed and patted dry (leave skins on) 4-6 tablespoons olive oil A little sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper (regular salt and pepper can be used) 2 teaspoons favorite blend of herbs, any kind your family likes or invent your own. It’s easy. Place the washed and dried potatoes on a baking sheet. Pour the oil, salt, pepper and herbs over the potatoes and mix it all together. Place in a 350 degree oven (adult help please) for about one hour or until an adult can stick a fork into a potato without resistance. Serve right out of the oven with a little butter or sour cream and chives. So yummy and healthy. |
